Why rent a porta potty for a backyard party?

A backyard party porta potty keeps 50 or more guests from walking through your house. That means fewer muddy floors, no line at the hall bathroom and less strain on a septic tank. Rural homes in Kuna, Star and Middleton on septic benefit the most.

Most homes have 1 or 2 bathrooms. A party of 75 guests can make a line in the first hour.

  • Guests stay outside, where the party is.
  • Kids are not running through the kitchen.
  • Septic tanks avoid a surge of extra water.
  • Pets and private rooms stay off-limits.

How many porta potties do you need for a backyard party?

Plan 1 standard porta potty for every 50 guests at a party up to 4 hours. For 4 to 8 hours, divide guests by 40. Add 1 unit for every 4 units when alcohol is served, with at least 1 extra. Round up every time.

This is our recommendation based on industry sizing charts, not a law. Mostly women or kids? Add 1 unit for every 4. Try the porta potty calculator guide for longer events.

Will a porta potty fit through my side gate?

A standard porta potty is about 44 to 47 inches wide. That is too wide for a typical 36-inch side gate. The unit needs an opening of at least 48 inches. Otherwise, the driveway or side yard works well, within about 30 feet of the truck.

Measure the gate before you book. Many Boise subdivisions have 36-inch or 42-inch gates on the side yard.

The driver moves the unit with a dolly on firm ground. Soft lawn after watering can stop a dolly, so skip the sprinklers the night before.

Where should the porta potty go in your yard?

Put the backyard porta potty on level ground, 15 to 20 feet from food and seating. Face the door away from the crowd. A spot near the driveway or a side fence works well. A porch light or string lights help guests find it after dark.

  • Keep it off sprinkler heads and septic lids.
  • Leave a clear path without steps for older guests.
  • Place a trash can nearby for paper towels.
  • Keep the unit in the yard or driveway, not on the street.

A unit on the street or sidewalk needs an ACHD permit in Ada County. Read the Boise porta potty permit guide for details.

How much does a backyard party porta potty cost?

A standard backyard party porta potty starts at $175 for the first unit and $135 for each additional unit. A two-station hand-wash station starts at $125. Delivery and pickup are included in Zone 1, which covers Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Kuna, Star and Garden City.

Prices are before 6% Idaho sales tax. There is no daily or hourly charge. A Saturday party with Friday drop-off and Monday pickup costs the same as a 3-hour event.

How do you book a porta potty for a home party?

To book a home party porta potty, send the date, guest count and address. Add a note about the gate or driveway. Booking 1 to 2 weeks early holds summer Saturdays. Same-day delivery in the Boise metro works when you call before noon, for a $95 rush fee.

You do not need to be home for delivery. Leave a note, a chalk mark or a photo of the spot.

See event porta potty rental for unit choices. For an older crowd, step up to a deluxe flushing porta potty.

Related questions

We have about 50 people coming. Is one porta potty enough?

One standard porta potty covers about 50 guests for a party up to 4 hours. For a longer party or one with beer and wine, add a second unit. Your home bathroom can serve as a backup for older guests.

Can you drop it off the day before and pick it up after?

Event rentals drop off up to 1 business day before and pick up the next business day after. A Saturday party usually means Friday drop-off and Monday pickup. There is no charge for the extra days.

Do I need to be home when the porta potty is delivered?

You do not need to be home for delivery. Mark the spot with a flag, chalk or a cone, and add a note about pets or gate codes. The driver places the unit and sends confirmation.

Can I get a porta potty that looks nicer for a family birthday?

A deluxe flushing unit has a recirculating flush and a fresh-water sink inside, starting at $295. For a larger or dressier party, a restroom trailer with real porcelain toilets starts at $1,195.

What if a guest is in a wheelchair?

An ADA wheelchair-accessible unit has a ground-level floor and a 60-inch turning circle. Event pricing starts at $235. The unit is about 85 inches wide, so it needs an open driveway or yard spot.
