Restroom Trailer or Porta Potty for Your Wedding?
Choosing a restroom trailer vs porta potty for a wedding comes down to guests, budget, power and site access.

What is the difference between a restroom trailer and a porta potty?
A restroom trailer has real porcelain toilets, sinks, lights and climate control inside a towed trailer. A porta potty is a single plastic stall with a holding tank. A deluxe flushing unit sits in between, with a recirculating flush and a fresh-water sink but no power needed.
How much does each wedding restroom option cost?
A 2-station restroom trailer starts at $1,195 per event for up to 3 days. A 3-station trailer starts at $1,595. For example, a 150-guest wedding with a bar needs 5 porta potties and 1 hand-wash station. That setup starts at $940 before tax.
The porta potty example uses our sizing method. For 5 hours, 150 guests ÷ 40 = 4 units, plus 1 for alcohol = 5 units. One of the 5 is wheelchair-accessible.
| Setup for 150 guests, 5 hours, bar | Starting price |
|---|---|
| 4 standard units + 1 ADA unit + 1 hand-wash station | $940 |
| 2-station restroom trailer + 1 ADA unit | $1,430 |
| 3-station restroom trailer + 1 ADA unit | $1,830 |

Does a restroom trailer need power and water at the venue?
A restroom trailer needs a standard 110V, 20-amp outlet or a generator to run lights, fans and climate control. Water comes from a garden hose connection or the onboard fresh tank. The trailer also needs a level spot, so walk the venue before you book.
- Run a dedicated outdoor outlet, not one shared with the DJ or caterer.
- Keep the trailer within reach of a hose bib if possible.
- Check for a level, firm pad near the reception area.
- Plan a path for the truck that avoids soft lawn and septic lines.
Barn venues in Star, Kuna and the Emmett valley often have power at the barn but not the field. A generator solves that. See restroom trailer rental for sizes.

Is a restroom trailer wheelchair accessible?
Most restroom trailers have 2 to 4 steps at the door, so a wheelchair user cannot enter one. Plan at least 1 wheelchair-accessible porta potty next to the trailer. The U.S. Access Board reads the ADA Standards as at least 5% accessible units per cluster at temporary events.
The PolyJohn We'll Care III has a ground-level floor, a 60-inch turning circle and a 32.75-inch door. The maker says it is designed to exceed ADA portable toilet requirements.
Place the accessible unit on a hard, level path. Grass is fine when dry and firm. Read more on ADA porta potty rental.
When is a porta potty setup the better wedding choice?
A porta potty setup often fits better for a remote wedding site with no power or a tight budget. Mountain venues near Garden Valley and Idaho City may lack level ground for a trailer. Deluxe flushing units add comfort without hookups.
- Remote ceremony site: standard units plus a hand-wash station.
- Dressy backyard reception: 2 or 3 deluxe flushing units.
- Large barn wedding with power: restroom trailer plus 1 accessible unit.
- Backup for venue restrooms: 1 or 2 deluxe units near the dance floor.

How far ahead should you book wedding restrooms?
Book a wedding restroom trailer 2 to 6 months ahead for June through September Saturdays. Porta potties can usually be booked 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Event cancellations are free up to 24 hours before delivery, so booking early carries little risk.
Send the date, guest count, venue address, power source and a site photo. We confirm placement and access before the week of the wedding.

How many restroom trailers do I need for a wedding?
One 2-station or 3-station restroom trailer covers most weddings of 100 to 175 guests for one evening. For larger guest lists or all-day events, add deluxe units or a second trailer. Always add 1 wheelchair-accessible unit.
Do the guests have to use blue porta potties at a nice wedding?
Guests do not have to use standard blue units. A deluxe flushing unit has a sink and flush, starting at $295. A restroom trailer with porcelain toilets and climate control starts at $1,195 per event.
Can we use a restroom trailer and porta potties at the same wedding?
Many couples pair both. The restroom trailer sits near the reception and dance floor. A standard or deluxe unit serves a separate ceremony site. Add 1 wheelchair-accessible unit near the trailer.
Can the restroom trailer stay for the whole wedding weekend?
A restroom trailer event rental covers up to 3 days. That fits a rehearsal dinner, wedding day and a Sunday brunch. Longer stays can be quoted.
Is the venue bathroom plus one porta potty enough for 200 guests?
Two venue restrooms plus one unit is usually short for 200 guests over 5 hours. Our sizing method suggests about 5 units for that crowd, or 6 with a bar. Venue restrooms reduce the count by 1 or 2.
